You decide you are going to train tomorrow. Start the side project. Go for the run. Study. Call someone you care about. So you set a reminder. Then it arrives:
Gym, 6:00 PM
You already knew that. The trouble is that the version of you reading the notification is tired, busy, distracted, or simply does not feel like it any more. What you have lost is not what you meant to do. It is why you wanted to do it.
So we made a different kind of reminder
Remynders lets you save the things you want your future self to hear, at the moment you still mean them. Write yourself a message. Record a voice note. Keep a photo that means something. Then attach it to something you have planned.
When that moment comes round, the reminder arrives carrying your reason rather than just the task. Your words, unedited. A different one each time, so it does not fade into the wallpaper. It is the version of you who decided, talking to the version of you who has to act.
Your motivation, not ours
There is no shortage of motivational quotes on the internet. But a stranger telling you to NEVER GIVE UP is not what gets you off the sofa on a Tuesday evening.
Your own reason might. A photo of the thing you are working toward might. A voice note you recorded while you were genuinely excited about it might. A line from past you, reminding present you why this started, might.
We are not trying to manufacture motivation on your behalf. We want to help you hold on to your own.
Fewer meaningless notifications, more meaningful ones
Your phone already sends you plenty. Remynders is not an attempt to add to the pile. It is an attempt to make the few reminders you actually chose to receive worth reading: more personal, better timed, and connected to something you care about.
We have written more about why reminders stop working, and what the research on attention and memory suggests about fixing them, on our blog.
Where your reasons live
The material you put into Remynders is among the more personal things on your phone, so it stays there. Voice notes and photos are never uploaded, transcribed or analysed. There is no account, no password and no email address to hand over. You can read exactly what is stored and what leaves the device on the privacy page.
Where to get it
Remynders is available on Android today, and an iOS version is in development. It is free to write text reasons and keep one category; voice notes, photos and unlimited categories are paid. No ads, and nothing sold on.
Because sometimes you do not need another app telling you what to do. You need to remember why you wanted to do it.
